Who We Are
Hopeton Church focuses on helping people encounter Jesus; we do this by walking beside people and providing opportunities to see, hear, touch, and experience Jesus. We are one church with multiple locations to get involved with, whether it be our main service or youth and college services.
You don't have to dress up in a suit to be accepted. You can wear jeans, get a cup of coffee, and enjoy contemporary worship, great videos, and a relevant message. There are also multiple opportunities to get connected and plugged into Hopeton Church; we have Connect Groups for all ages and walks of life! Let us meet you where you are at and help you see the grace of God by sharing the love of Christ with you!

Be a part of our story...
PleasantView Church had its beginnings as a Methodist Church in the Pleasant View School House near 1900. As nearly as we can determine, two men, Rev. McClung and Rev. Bolling were the first to preach there. Services continued in the schoolhouse until the first section of the Church was completed in 1904.
Pleasant View continued as a Methodist Church until 1909, when the group, known as the Pilgrim Holiness Church, bought the property from the Methodist people.
In August of 1907, Rev. Ben Layman, Rev. Will Webster, his sister Addie, and Miss Phebee Daugherty conducted a revival in a tent on Friendship School Grounds. Great crowds of people attended, and many were converted. Other meetings followed this meeting in schoolhouses and another tent meeting in Brower's Grove. In1909 the congregation was organized as a church and bought the interest of the Methodist people in this location.
In 1968, The Pilgrim Holiness denomination merged with The Wesleyan Methodist denomination to become The Wesleyan Church.
In 1972, while Rev. John M. Snook was pastoring the church, the congregation merged with Hopeton Wesleyan Church.
The Hopeton Wesleyan Church was planted in 1910 at the current location of Hopeton Church and grew in this location in 1972 with the merger of Pleasant View Church. The first record of pastors for Hopton Church that can be found was from 1933-1937, Doll and Bottenburg.
The fact that a country church is thriving as it has and continues gives testimony to the obvious blessing of the Lord and leadership willing to follow Him through the years.
