The Heart and Its Inmates
Apr 30, 2023 • Pastor Drake Colvin
Each of us carries with us a burden of secret sin; none of us is perfect, and yet we all try to hide that fact from others. If, instead, each of us were honest about our sinfulness, then we would no longer fear the judgment of others or have concerns that we are the only people who have these secret sins. Our hearts are sad prisons because we are trapped in them, determined not to be really known by any of our fellows. In keeping our sinful natures secret, we prevent anyone from really coming to know us, just as we are prevented from knowing anyone else. We are the architects of our own alienation. However, there can be new dwellers in our hearts. There can be new motives and a new heart condition.
